@didimauw When I bought my first clay pipe I thought there were only Condor, Mellow Virginia, St. Bruno and Clan...
I've tried all 4 of these in my clay pipes; St. Bruno is my favourite but I like Condor and Special Virginia as well.
50% St. Bruno mixed with 50% B&H Special Virginia should go down well.

What constitutes a “safety pipe,” virkia?
Sorry, haven't the faintest idea as the pipe looks far from safe to me.

As an addendum to yesterday, I would never dream of smoking at the D-Day Memorial (not even Squadron Leader), but I did spend some time with Air Marshall Tedder, who is entitled to do as he pleasesView attachment 91402.
Your photo got me thinking of the late Air Chief Marshal Sir Hugh Dowding, later Lord Dowding, and his second wife Muriel who were great friends of my mother's and became my adoptive godparents in the 1960s after my godfather died. Lord Dowding was getting on in years when we visited them at their house at No. 1, Calverley Park, Tunbridge Wells but Lady Dowding was around for some time afterwards and was always tremendously kind to me, never forgetting my birthday with a nature related book usually signed by the author. Apart from the books, now in storage, all I have to remind me of them is a matchbox holder given by them to my mother and later given to me:-

I'm lighting my first ever bowl of Quiet Nights right now! Do you have any experience aging it?
No. This is my first bowl of Quiet Nights and from a recent tin.
I recently finished a 10 year aged tin of Dunhill Nightcap. The Nightcap tasted exquisite. GL Pease Quiet Nights is very similar to nightcap, and seeing how the Nightcap has aged, the Quiet Nights should also age equally well.

First smoke tonight is 3rd Smoke blended by Steve Books in 1992. I bought and jar'ed some in 2003. Not sure if he ever sold any in his shop or not. Not sure what leafs are in it either. Jar smell is a light vinegar with dark fruit and layers of mystique. I can see some smaller oriental leafs. Taste is rich, surprisingly savory, with naturally dark, heavy sweetness. Leaves a soft, creamy aftertaste. Smoke is a bluish gray/white. Really wish I'd kept my notes on what varietals were in this but he tended to use a lot of hard-to-find turkish and greek leafs with aged VA and subtler amounts of perique or latakia. I would bet there's a long lost sweet turkish in it. Smoking it in this old Ashton Pebble Shell X.

Nice. I have one of Tony Benn's pipes given to me when I stood as a Labour Party candidate in the 1980s in storage in the U.K. It's something I look forward too when I return to the old country later this year and unpacking all my stuff from storage.
@condorlover1 This Redcoat made his clay pipe of Condor Ready Rubbed last 47 minutes (with relighting), before it finally burned down to the ash.
A long and delicious smoke, the baccy smouldered rather than burned and this Redcoat felt all mellow and relaxed; the Condor tasted fantastic and went down well!
I've been making great use of your pipe tool and have learned more about how to clean and smoke my clays!
I'll have to have another long and delicious smoulder when I go out and about next week...
Hope you can return to the UK soon...
Best wishes!

Relaxing after a wonderful salad, French cut pork chops and asparagus dinner with strawberries and cherries for dessert. I'm close to finishing this bowl of year 2000 Wessex Brigade Sovereign Curly Cut in a smooth straight Lane era Charatan Executive Extra Large stretch apple with diagonal channel cuts on the lower right and left of the bowl along with a black vulcanite double comfort saddle stem. This pipe was formerly owned by actor William Conrad. Community Coffee, neat, is my drink. Watching the Braves-Nats game.
