Hurricane came and went. It’s still drizzling rain, so I’m cleaning up the shop and having some C&D Bluegrass. Truly a great sleeper blend if you like Burley and dark fired Kentucky. Notes of cocoa, grass, and toasted breads, with a nice slightly smoky kick from the DFK.

Did your property get damaged much in the storm?

Trying out a blend new to me: KBV Byronic Slices, in a bent-stem Falcon with a dublin-style briar bowl. First thoughts are that Byronic would actually work really well in a blend with other tobacco types. It's tangy-sweet and more than a little funky. Truth be told, I'm probably less a fan of VA-heavy 'baccy as I get older.

Having had dinner now it's time for the serious stuff. Condor in the Falcon, cofee and a dram of whisky.

Nah, I fared just fine. I got some water in my shop, but nothing important got wet. I do need to check the roof on the house tomorrow though. It was only category 1 by the time it got to me, and then it veered east, so we only got some of the outer bands really. Unfortunately a young girl close to here was killed when a tree fell on her house. I know her family must be devastated. Lots of uprooted trees and downed power lines, but not too much structure damage here. I think the folks from Alexandria south to the coast really got hammered though. I hope not much loss of life. Keep those folks in your thoughts and prayers.

Glad to hear it.
Once experienced a tornado here which caused a lot of damage around the town. Nature is full of beauty but can be frightening at times.

Relaxing after a wonderful salad, perch and sugar snap green peas dinner with strawberries and cherries for dessert. Now smoking J.F. Germain’s Rich Dark Flake in a 1998 smooth medium bend Peterson Limerick 69 with a nickel band and a black vulcanite p-lip stem. Getting ready to clean a few pipes. And I'm going to give El Salvador Dali Coffee a chance. Hope it's good.

So not too much damage in your area then?
