Went to dawn service today as it’s ANZAC day here and we remember those who have fallen and those who still serve in our military. We as a nation weigh up the cost of war at a personal level today and humbly acknowledge that our way of life and freedoms are due in large part to these brave men and women. Australians have fought alongside our allies in every theater of war since our young nation was formed and one could argue that Australia the nation lost its innocence in World War 1 when we sent our very best young men to far flung corners to be commanded by others (British) such was the way of a very young Commonwealth nation.
So today it’s Nightcap in my little Dunhill 1925 CK. A little pipe that found life between the First and Second World War and if only it could speak I wonder what it would say of men and war.

Lest we forget

Relaxing after a wonderful Jethro Bodine size bowl of chili topped with cheddar cheese, which finishes the pot m'lady made earlier today. Dessert was a big slice of freshly made strawberry pie. I've passed the half way mark of this bowl of year 2015 Mac Baren Virginia #1 in a pre-1923 smooth dark brown early Comoy’s Prior (Gros, Grenier, Ostero & Cie.) pot with a black vulcanite saddle stem. It's too humid for coffee tonight, so ice water and bergs is my drink.

A gorgeous day invites me out to soak up some sun. I’m listening to the wind chime and watching large flocks of Robins come and go as they feast on juniper berries and then move to the Mountain Ash tree berries.
Savinelli #122 Oscar Pot with Country Squires Whatever ???? Blend. I bought this a few years ago and forgot about it.
a glass of ice water.
Whatever’s in it- it’s rather tasty.

I have a jar of that Whatever???? from last year. We should compare them sometime to see how wildly it varies.
