I must really suck, ‘cause I’ve been playing with it and it’s kicking my butt. Probably trying to teach myself coupled with only having a 6” belt to sharpen the cheap used tools that came with it doesn’t help🤔
I said it was an excellent wood for turning, not that you'd be excellent at turning the wood : )

When my neighbor gave me his lathe I sucked at it too, in fact, I still suck at it.

Stick with it, you'll get there, and you'll be making fancy balusters for the chicken coop in no time.

Now smoking year 2014 Edgeworth Ready Rubbed Match in a very much appreciated 1979 brown, slight bend grain etched flat front Stanwell Rego 969-48 (09) with a black vulcanite saddle stem. Daisy the Feral Princess, Tomato the Brave and Harry the Hairy have taken turns wanting in and wanting out. I need to get a revolving door. :)

A quarter of a bowl left of first production Watch City American Cut Plug Mixture in a straight smooth brown undated Gesandt Canadian Made in England with a tapered black vulcanite stem. This pipe was originally owned by Poul Schluter, who was the Prime Minister of Denmark from 1982-1993. Just fed Sleepy Suzy, Molly Danger (in the bedroom), and Daisy the Feral Princess. When they finish eating, I'll see who is outside.

Almost a third of the way through this bowl of year 2016 Sutliff 507-C Slices in a black sandblast PSB medium bend 2021 Peterson POTY 4AB No. 228/500 military mount with a silver cap and a tapered black vulcanite AB stem. Tomato the Brave ate, and then jumped on my lap. He got plenty of attention, and then wanted out. Harry the Hairy is in and eating, now. I'm reading baseball box scores.
