Well a great lunch was had and I had my usual 750gm/22oz Rib eye on the bone which came from my farm and cooked just how I like it. The chef chases it through the kitchen and knocks the hide and horns off and then brings it to me. What was a surprise is the lads cobbled together and purchased me a pipe and I have to say I'm gobsmacked, what a pipe, what a gift.

That's a real nice variety you've got out there! I envy all cardinal sightings--we don't get those out here, or indeed anywhere west of the Rockies. Grackles will box out all competition and plow through your birdseed like Penzance at a pipe club meeting. Don't say I didn't warn you! :ROFLMAO:
They do indeed. Only lately have they been showing up at the feeder this year.

We get cardinals here too. Lots of blue Jay's as well. I never knew what a scrub jay was until your posts and I looked them up.

I like the pipe & tobacco info .... of course .... but also enjoy reading about the meals, pets, horse stories, home remodeling, wife commentary (etc) .... also "enjoy" (but very sadly) reading touching personal sharing about the loss of beloved pets, personal medical issues (etc). Everything here is gripping & fascinating, keeping me riveted. I'm somewhat new here, but I feel like I've joined a great community.

NOTE: I'm now craving a ribeye.

Did some important low calorie snacking, and am a third of the way through this bowl of Wilke Surbrug’s Crystal Palace in a dark brown smooth straight post-WW2 LHS Certified Purex 79 bulldog with a nickel ferrule and tenon with a black vulcanite saddle stem. Ice water and bergs is my drink. Listening to the December 7, 1941 episode of The Great Gildersleeve. The show was interrupted several times for news, but the actors kept on going.

Now smoking Wilke Little Round Top in an undated straight smooth brown pre-Republic Peterson’s Sterling bulldog 150 with a sterling silver band and a black vulcanite saddle p-lip stem. This blend is Back Bay with much less perique (10%) than the regular Back Bay. Reading forum posts.

Cornell & Diehl’s Big ‘n Burley in my Vauen Mamba 5591 with a 9mm filter was my smoke to end the other day and to begin yesterday. I thought I didn’t like this shape since it’s a modified version of the -93 shape being more bulbous and lacking that sharp heel I like so much. It’s a great pipe though and very comfortable.
IMG_5305.jpeg
Yesterday afternoon I had some more Big ‘n Burley in my Vauen Rosewood 175 with a 9mm filter while running errands.
IMG_5306.jpeg
In the evening yesterday I fired up my new estate pipe for the first time. A Vauen Boston with an acrylic stem and Five Brothers. This one must be very old.
IMG_5308.jpeg
My last smoke yesterday while I took my dog out for a walk was a new old stock never smoked before Vauen Dr. Perl 5290 with a vulcanite p-lip stem and more Big ‘n Burley. It still had the original paper filter in it, which I didn’t realize until after.
IMG_5316.jpeg
Those were my smokes since my last post. It’s busy being a new dad.

One of the male Cardinals recently began perching in the camera feeder, something I’ve never seen before. Forgot about the Blue Jays and Titmice, never a shortage of those. The Grackles are a force for sure! Really enjoying watching them with a pipe and relaxing.
