On August 9th, 1969, the deranged disciples of Charles Manson murdered in cold blood, Sharon Tate (and her unborn baby), Jay Sebring, Abigail Folger and Wojciech Frykowski, along with Steven Parent.
Since last week marked the 56th anniversary of this heinous act, I am reading:

I'd highly recommend Tom O'Neill's book Chaos. Very eye opening regarding Bugliosi...both on a personal level, and his handling of the case...and so much else surrounding and related to the Manson saga.

dang this list got heavy!
Lighter fare: The Windup Girl, by Paolo Bacigalupi.
Sci-fi. 2009. Hugo and Nebula award winning. Good story, good writing and character development. 3rd of the way in and will definitely see it through. Novel. Fascinating. Interesting. Smart. And "Yeah, I can totally see something like this." all come to mind. There are a lot of books out there, and this one makes the cut of "worth the time," imho. Many don't.

I've possibly posted it before, but worth repeating: Embassytown, by China Mieville. BLEW. MY . MIND. In the best way: wholly alien concepts stretching the brain, one after another, generating a dopamine flood seldom experienced. Yeah, ymmv. My mileage was off the charts! :col:
First of his books I read, and frankly, the best one imho, as is more hard sci-fi v fantasy...and i view all sci-fi as fantasy, this was..mind bending. It stands as a masterpiece (imho).

Recently read, "I Am Pilgrim" which apparently was a spy/suspense/thriller that came out some time ago - I bought it because it was a long book and I had several hours in a plane to kill and kept reading it when I got back. Really good book, thought the ending was a bit rushed and convenient, though.

Just received a book on the Beatles for my birthday I can't believe I've overlooked "The Beatles: All These Years - Tune In" - it's a hardback and a very hefty and exhaustive look at the Fab Four pre- USA. Apparently the first in a trilogy and the author has been working on the second installment for many, many years, lol, and it's not out yet. He's around my age so I'm hoping it takes him many, many years to write the third installment and I am able to enjoy it, haha but I'm not betting he completes the series with the same level of attention to detail.
