Presently, Keiichi is trying to figure out a way to rescue a friend from her abusive uncle (because they're friends, and he's recently embraced the role of being her surrogate big brother since the real one ran away from home a year ago) by hiding her in his room without his parents realizing.

Just finished Yellowface by RF Kuang, which was excellent.

Current reading:

• America is in the Heart by Carlos Bulosan, a Filipino immigrant who came to the US in the 1930s and was involved in the labor movement
• Severance by Ling Ma -- a beautifully written post-apocalyptic novel
• The Fairy-Faith in Celtic Countries by Walter Evans-Wentz -- my go-to bedtime reading
• History of the Philippines: From Indios Bravos to Filipinos by Luis Francia

The Fairy Faith in Celtic Countries is great. Having lived (and still living) in multiple of the areas discussed made this an even more interesting read.

The Fairy Faith in Celtic Countries is great. Having lived (and still living) in multiple of the areas discussed made this an even more interesting read.

Have you read "British Goblins" by Wirt Sikes? It has a similar vibe, focusing primarily on goblin/spirit lore in Wales.
