Now playing Joe Jackson - I'm The Man
I'll speak, to the masses through the media
And if you got anything to say to me
You can say it with cash

'Cause I've got the trash, and you got the cash

So baby we should get along fine
So give me all your money, 'cause I know you think I'm funny
Can't you hear me laughing, can't you see me smile

I'm the man (I'm the man, I'm the man, I'm the man)

Just ran into this thread. Interesting. I'll go back and review it a bit more thoroughly, but here is what I am listening to right now.

Yes, it is music! Yes I like it. As a matter of fact, I've played it several times in performance. Haven't conducted it because it is extremely difficult and also very difficult to program because it doesn't fit into the regular scheme of things being programmed because of it's short length and aphoristic nature. Goes good with a cup of hot coffee and a pipe. But you'll have to listen to it at least 3 times, even with a short smoke! Works for me with a miniature and Mad Fiddler! :ROFLMAO:

Now, here is a different kettle of fish from the Webern. My favorite Mozart Symphony, the "Haffner." I've performed this with every orchestra I've been a part of, and conducted it in concert with two different orchestras about four times, if I remember correctly. Took it on tour with the Northern Orchestra of BC when I was conductor there. A fan favorite, brilliant and virtuosic.

And yes, there is a vary wide selection of Jazz, Blues and even Rock I do like but nothing from the rebellious age of the '60s. I rebelled against the rebels, and much prefer certain heavy metal bands over any other "rock." A lot of them can actually play the guitar. Well. Am a Miles Davis fan, too.

Enjoy. The entire symphony lasts about 23 minutes . . . . enough to go with a long smoke in a miniature! :ROFLMAO:

I don't usually listen to YouTube - have a pretty good CD collection (yeah, I still prefer that format) and even have some vinyl - looking for a new turntable - probably a Rega because that was my favourite before I mistakenly got out of the format and sold mine. What a moron I was!!

About to go and light up a cigar. I'll be listening to Wagner. Here's two You tube versions of the aria "Notung, Notung . . ." - the first sung Siegfried is sung by a tenor, and the older Karajan recording by a true Heldentenor (bass baritone with a tenor range . . . .much more powerful. But Heldens are a rare breed.)

Cigars go good with Wagner!!

Enjoy!

This is what I love about this thread. I get introduced to music I have never paid much attention to before !
