You should try LaLuna on Sirius. Fabulous Latin jazz. I've loved this music since going to see Mongo Santamaria at the Village Gate in NYC when I was a kid. My parents were fairly strict but somehow they let me spend hours at the jazz clubs unchaperoned. Some of the musicians would let me sit behind the trumpet section and read the charts. The trumpet was all consuming for me as a kid.As part of Hispanic Heritage Month, I've been listening to the rich and greatly influential contributions to our musical culture.
I really like this haunting Afro-Cuban folk song, "Similau," as performed, quite affectingly, by fellow pipe smoker, Desi Arnaz.
Hell yeah!fIREHOSE

'I swear I don't have a gun'Nirvana's incredible performance of Come As You Are on MTV Unplugged.
'I swear I don't have a gun'
What a tragic irony of fate.
No, nothing as rarified as that. I believe they sang with amateur music societies and such. I do know that in later years they were members of the Long Island Choral Society. I loved the performances of Messiah at the cathedral in Garden City on Long Island. Thanks for asking. I’ll watch your posts as my tastes are eclectic too. Thanks, edger.
I have very eclectic musical interests, and opera is very much a part of the mix. Did your grandparents sing at the Met? I am quite aware of the artists of that and later periods. Perhaps I'd recognize the names?
