Spurred on by my purchase last month on the 4 CD boxset by the
Eagles, I also bought their '
Hell Freezes Over' DVD which I watched last night.
Alas it was something of a disappointment if I'm honest. Compared to their 2 DVD '
Fairwell Tour: Live From Melbourne', this was a bit of a flop with me, mostly due to there being many songs on it that were totally new to me. Whereas I'd give the Melbourne gig a solid 8/10, this one might just manage 5/10 if I was feeling generous. I hope it grows on me as I play it more.
One odd thing, right at the end of the gig there is a final song (Seven Bridges Road) which only plays on equipment that can decode DTS. Why did they do that? Thankfully it played fine on my Marantz SACD/DVD player, but many folks (according to Amazon reviews) are livid they couldn't play it.
Regards,
Jay.
