And I've always loved this one............ seems ironic that an Englishman would "Get" Hollywood and all it's vagaries, but Dave and Ray just nail this in my opinion.......... It somehow seems better coming from someone NOT in Hollywood.......... ?

David Allan Coe-The Ride

I love hard honky tonk country music, and of all the country songs ever to play on the radio in my 64 years, the most harmonically beautiful I consider to be Mona Lisa’s Lost Her Smile.

And although no radio station I know ever played it, Under Rachel’s Wings is about the equal of it.

David Allen Coe was a fraud.

He masqueraded as an outlaw biker when he had the finest male voice in country music.

Country music is poorer that he didn’t behave himself better.

The greatest what if’s in country music are if David Allen Coe hadn’t recorded his racial songs, and if KD Lang could have stayed in the closet.

To many this might seem an unlikely pairing: The Blind Boys of Alabama and George Clinton (of Parliament / P-Funk fame), but it works (at least for me). Enjoy!
