Those of us addicted to pure, uncut, unfiltered, sad, lonesome, nasal twang know that there are artists today to sing and play the songs but we need new songwriters.

Well, perhaps a demand for nostril nosed morality songs twanged out by Lefty Frizzell imitators and crying steel guitars, plinky pianos, high squally harmonies and lyrics about having a mansion in heaven next to Jesus and Mama would help too, you know?

Steve Wood

Build My Mansion (sixty year old Rambos song)

Heart That Will Never Break Again (old twanger by Easter Brothers)

All really good twang is performed by a man imitating Lefty Frizzell or a woman trying to sound like Kitty Wells.

Rose of Ben and Rose hits Kitty on the nail head, but Ben can’t get the German accent out of his Lefty.

The musicians who play back up today are actually much tighter and better than the golden age of twang.

We need new Harlan Howards.

People who can write new songs like It Wasn’t God Who Made Honky Tonk Angels and Saginaw Michigan.
