Now for something completely different, how about some definitive Barry White?


Here's an interesting fact: Mr. White was once the A&R (Artists & Repertoire) man for Del-Fi Records (Ritchie Valen's label) where a young Ms. Bobbie Gentry tried to sell him a song titled "Ode to Billy Joe." Mr. White liked the song and urged the label to purchase it, but it was refused. She subsequently pitched it to Capitol Records who made the purchase. Five weeks after its release it rose to the the top of Billboard Magazine's pop singles chart, and set Ms. Gentry's career into orbit.
