I've been enjoying The Beach Boy's "Pet Sounds" lately. I think one could spend a lifetime studying this album.
I grew up with the mono mix, and it's the one I prefer to this day.............. BUT........
I really think the stereo version is better when listening with headphones.........
Also- as a kid, I sorta glossed over the instrumental songs on the album, and as I've grown into a wise old sage, I've realized that the instrumentals on the album were the best part after all........
