Currently listening to Ornette Coleman ~ The Shape of Jazz to Come.
So right! Leon was one-in-a-million. Understated brilliance. I first saw him outside in 1972 at the Iowa State Fairgrounds, up close and personal - a smaller grandstand seating. With him was JJ Cale and Freddie King. One of my earliest high school concerts as a sophomore. A wee-bit influential.Always enjoyed this one from Leon............ There's a lot going on in the video........... A little pipe smoking at the 10 second mark, Leon's got a Winston burning atop his piano the whole song..........
Not sure what that woman was mixing up in that bowl, but probably the fixins' for a great meal afterwards............Why did he have five paper cups on his piano? Stuff like that just get's my curiosity up........... Leon could tickle the ivories with the best of them............. As a session player, he was so prolific....... played on a BUNCH of songs........... good stuff!..............
Spotify has a generic “station” called Classical British Countryside that plays Butterworth, Vaughn Williams, Delius, Bax, Walton, etc. Beautiful pastoral themes. Happy listening.Listening to The Banks of Green Willow by George Butterworth played by the Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra. Onwards with online teaching at nine, the quicker we get back to normal the better.
Happy smokes.
