Drove 2 hours in a VW bug through a zero vis blizzard to see them on that tour. Not dying on the road was topped when I caught a guitar pick from Rick Emmett. Great show, too.

Today is Bo Diddley's birthday, he would have been 91.
Here's Tom Petty and Bo Diddley doing a terrific version of Bo's song "Mona" live at the Fillmore. Tom says at the end, "You know Elvis was the King, but Bo was the Daddy."

Currently listening to Frank Zappa ~ Civilization Phase III.

Yesterday I watched ( YouTube) an interview with Frank on the Mike Douglas show from the early 70s. A stellar example of don’t judge a book by its cover. Frank played as well as talked. I doubt that any of the talk shows today would’ve afforded him as much time.

Now playing Steely Dan - Aja, preceded by “ Making Of Steely Dan’s Aja”.

Fascinating interviews all around. Some really articulate and intelligent musicians on that album. They could play pretty well, too.
