I am not giving her anything. If I do, she will expect a gift next year too. (Actually I was going to buy her a Honda car, but she has been such a shrew lately that plan has changed. There is a price to pay for having an over aggressive mouth.)
@Phil22 I play in an Irish Pub band and as such play outside the house three nights a week. I also play in church and for a local seniors home. For around $1100.00 you can have a Taylor 214ce which is a beautiful guitar in that price range. It has Rosewood back and sides and a Sitka spruce top. Great tone woods and decent built in electronics. I play a Taylor 814ce which is basically the same guitar but prettier and more professional electronics with Taylors expression system. Compared at nearly $4000.00 makes the 214ce an excellent value. Another option is the Breedlove Atlas series which will come in under budget at around $500.00 with a nice gig bag. My Breedlove is my campfire guitar that I can take to the trailer in the summertime. Both are made offshore and "voiced" in the US. When you get into the 614ce series with Taylor you get a guitar that is entirely built in the US plant and voiced by professional luthiers. I would suggest staying away from old school brands that are lacking quality like Cort and Fender. One vote in favour of the Taylor is that the 214ce is a solid top, meaning that multiple pieces are not laminated together. This has a huge effect on the volume of sound.
