I almost never drink, anymore, mostly related to some athletic goals; but, the other evening I did pull a January 2016 Dogfish Head Immort Ale out of the cellar.

I remember it getting little better than a shrug from me, back when fresh. Nothing to write home about.
But oh boy has the last decade been kind to it. It had turned into a viscous, rich elixir foregrounding dark-fruit esters on a carmelized backbone.

Almost across the board these bigger beers need at least a few years in the dark to come into their own.

Vegas Baby!!!
End of a long week. Starting off with whiskey sours. I love my job but some weeks require brain cleanser.

The whiskey is from Frey Ranch in Nevada. Everything is is produced on the farm. The grain, the water. The whole deal as much as humanly possible.

The mix is from Filthy. This one is Gold Rush. Cannot recommend their mixes enough. My go to short cuts.

Unless it’s the refrigerator old Fashioneds. Those are bottles of whisky/bourbon with just enough removed to add Woodford Reserve Old Fashioned Cocktail Syrup.

After a long day an easy mix, pre-made with whiskey in a bottle, in a fridge where all I have to do is grad a glass and then cold pre-made Old Fashioned. Chef’s Kiss!!!!

Apologies for the double post.

Must be concussion brought on by tripping over a tree root and hitting my head on the way to lunch.
Necessitated a visit to a nearby hospital Emergency Department to dress a forehead wound,

Fortunately it didn’t detract from a most enjoyable lunch.

I was more concerned about the possibility of damage to my bottle of wine than a bit of claret from the cut
