Trying to lose some of my Covid-19 weight gain. So, lots of tea, coffee and for my nightcap.... I'm taking the plunge into spiked seltzers as a low cal alternative to my usual Vodka and whisky.

I should have reported this two weeks ago. At a friends house did some whiskey tasting. One really cool stand out. Del Bac, Dorado. It’s made in Tucson,AZ. It’s a scotch style whiskey, but instead of peat for the fire, the use Mesquite wood. Very Smokey savory flavor. Very fun to try.

Good tasting several styles to understand the differences.

Just bottled a 5 gallon batch of Melomel (fruited mead). Ran out of bottles so I guess I have to drink what's left in the tank ??. This batch was made with local raw honey, and persimmons, holy basil, and wild cherry bark from the back yard. Primary fermentation with wild yeast followed by aggressive secondary mixed fermentation with champagne yeast and brettanomyces. Left to clear in the brite tank for 6 months because I wanted to let the wild yeasts work, and because I'm hella lazy. Half expected sourish funky brew, but it came out dry as a bone and clean as a whistle. Didn't take initial gravity readings, so no clue on the abv. I'll just have to judge by the buzz?.
