Sure have. Mine is an earlier KB&B Chesterfield.

There's also a handful of online pipe repair places that will happily turn a longer stem but OP would need to send it off. Briarville's the first that springs to mind.

I’m curious, what are the smoking qualities of a church warden vice a conventional style pipe?

The idea of propping up on my porch or out in the woods with a big ol’ church warden pipe is sounding pretty good.

What am I missing out on?

Biggest difference is the Churchwarden version of "clenching" is when you're sitting in a recliner the pipe rests on your belly, I've never been comfortable actually holding a pipe in my teeth but with the stem just propped up in your mouth it's very relaxing.
