 When did Dos Equis become a site sponsor?
Great review. I haven't tried many of the Sutliff blends. I will have to try this one.
I really like the pictures with this article,my favorite is the one at the end, with the close line. Could you make the pics from the article available as computer desktops for download? Add a PM logo in the corner. Would be nice section to add to the site. Pics from the articles and of the pipe girls.

After posting on my over-supply of tobacco and how I was going to lay off purchasing any more, some may

have noticed that I laid another pound recently when SP put Altadis aros on sale. Tobacco is a weakness.

Nonetheless, I have a tin of Great Outdoors on hand, that came in a goody bag from the local pipe show, so

though I will wait to open it, I now look forward to it. I am among those who taste burley blends loud and

clear, as some do not.

Thanks, eaglerico, I'm quite flattered you liked the pictures. Particularly because I'm trying to break out of the humdrum pipe still-life, and I was worried this image wouldn't scan with people--I'm really glad it did.

And thanks Kevin for bolstering my personal mythology :D

I just opened my first tin of Great Outdoors and so far I am very pleased. I definitely do get the nutty flavor along with the licorice (anise). But neither is overwhelming and I could see me smoking this all day long in the workshop, especially on a cool fall day or during the winter.
And for what it's worth, P&C has the 8 ounce tin for the price of about 2 50g tins. Quite the bargain if you ask me.
Happy puffing! :puffy:

It's a great workshop blend, isn't it av8? I found it commingled well with the 'atmosphere' in the shop, was uncomplicated enough to let me focus on work and tasty enough to keep me puffing. It works as well in the cooler weather as the warmer, for sure. Glad you found the review!

I did open my tin of Great Outdoors and I'm pleased, and a little surprised. One Forums member described his

experience as "weird and disgusting." I wonder if the blend has been tuned since then, or perhaps he had a bad

batch. Anyway, I find it low key but with some complexity, very engaging really. The size of the pieces is a little

uneven, but they burn evenly and almost completey, and there is, for me, absolutely no icky aromatic over-dressing.

It's a real pleasant blend that I look forward to, as much as some blends that cost much more.

Has anyone who likes this tried Mixture 79? I have a jar of it, and tried it twice. It tastes like the anise half of Mixture 79. I don't mind 79 every once in a while, but I know it tastes like a full synthetic. But this blend just tastes fakey to me. How long have people been letting it set out. I have only let it sit out 10 min or so, maybe im not airing out enough.

I have an 8 oz tin of this coming, really don't think I am gonna be able to put it away until I empty a tin in my rotation. Sounds like a great smoke.

The buy 3 get 1 Free deal going at P&C makes it a super bargain at about $1.45/oz.
