well, I bought this cheap pipe for several euros, its a small bent pipe but good enough to get started.

and for tobacco, I have a tin of w.ø. larrsen blend no. 80, its nice, I haven't tried much at all, but yeah I'm still a 'beginner'.

I also got a sample of stanwell kir & apple and Larssen 1864 Perfect Mixture. I have yet to try them.

Hey sander, that's pretty cool. You should do fine with that. No one here is in a contest to have the most pipes or the coolest or most expensive pipes or tobacco.
Some guys here have hundreds of pipes and many have just a few.
Since you mentioned Euros, I guess it safe to assume you are not American, so now I don't have to worry about you saying you are 16 years old.
In the US, each of the individual states has their own age laws for smoking, which vary from 18 - 21. Most websites that sell tobacco will only sell to 21+.
I know that many European countries the age is 16 for smoking.
Pipes up my friend!

Hey kevin,

yep 16 means smoking is legal here in the Netherlands and that also means that alot of people smoke around here esspecially young at age (I even see them at 12 years old) and mostly smoking cigarettes which is something I can't really enjoy. I'm one off the very very few that smokes a pipe.
And about pipes, I do plan on getting something a bit better than this one but that will only happen when the times there (maybe never)
But when I do get to it I'm just like my dad "when I get it I want it to be the best of the best" (I don't always see this as a good thing)

Ha ha ha Sander. You have to teach those kids that cigarettes suck and pipes are cool.

Ha ha, that is an interesting article.
today at school people were talking about smoking, and then suddenly I brought the pipe in the conversation and people just seem to laugh about the idea of smoking a pipe, its saddening in a way but also encouraging to not quit it (for me it is then)

They just don't get it. They should be laughing at themselves.
Good for you to be a unique individual with enough self-esteem and confidence to go your own way.

Hello there! I joined this forum because I thought it would be interesting to chat with some other pipe smokers. There is something intriguing and charming about someone who smokes a pipe rather than the typical smelly cigarettes. I always loved the aroma when someone was near me smoking a pipe or a cigar even, but I find that as soon as I put the pipe to my mouth, I get more the burnt taste without actually smelling the aroma myself. But at least the people around me when I'm smoking say it smells really good. Anyways, good to meet you all here on the forum.
One other thing, what's up with the funky password? In fact, my password is so weird, all random numbers and symbols, I don't even remember what it was. Something a bit easier to remember would be good.

Hello,
Sorry I didn't post yesterday. This looks like a fine site. I've smoked on and off for about 26 years. I still enjoy smoking a pipe, although I can only smoke outside and in the car at work. Too many kids around. It has become a solo pleasure for me.

That is somewhat normal, especially if you are smoking an aromatic. Stay away from cheap drug store aromatics. They smell good in the bag, but just give you a crap taste and burnt tongue when you smoke them.
Try an English blend (non-aromatic) from a pipe store and see how you like it.
An inexpensive, easy-to-find non-aromatic that is mild and on the mass market is Prince Albert.

I actually just recently bought an old Prince Albert tobacco tin from an antique store here. I got it because I wanted something original and antique to put my tobacco in. The lady at the store said it was around 100 years old. Apparently Prince Albert in a can was a popular joke at the time..."You have Prince Albert in a can?! Well you should let him out!" Well, so she says...Anyways, thanks for the tip Kevin, I'm going to find me some good stuff.

Welcome Tokyo puffer!
What do you like to smoke? Where do you buy your pipes and tobacco in Tokyo?
runewolf - that's cool. That tin may be a nice collectible. Yeah, the "Prince Albert in a can" is an old joke.
