My Sons favorite band. He met them in Austin, for him it was like meeting Sinatra. I've tried to like them but their lyrics can be disturbing. Not exactly music to sit back and enjoy. ;)

First, let me commend your parenting!? Yes, some of the lyrics are uh, brutally honest and disturbing but a lot of the albums have less extreme songs, some of which you might enjoy, like on their sea shanty album The Mollusk. They actually have a large following among the jam band crowd... My girlfriend loathes them, I'm really not sure if any women like them? The song below to me is better than anything The Pogues ever wrote...

Is this the band that did Ocean Man? That song was used on a car commercial when I was a kid and I’ve loved it ever since I heard it hahaha!

Oh man....better than the Pogues? That's some tall cotton. I did like that song you put up.

I should like them better since I do like the Black Keys, Son Volt/Wilco etc. The song that turned me off was Meningitis. As a parent, it's an uncomfortable subject. Their dark "humor" while tongue and cheek, is off-putting.

Yes, a lot of shock value in their lyrics and drug references but still better than him listening to gangster rap and the fact that he's not hiding it from you says something.

No reasons to hide from me. I'm an old Dead Head that is as likely to be listening to the Sex Pistols as Allman Brothers. I like all music.

He's a pretty good guitar player in his own right. He like them, good enough for me.

I like all music.

Haven't heard this from anyone in a while. Classically, when I've heard this, I've tossed out Throbbing Gristle to test the mettle of this statement.

Big Weenhead here since the 90s. For starting as a joke band, they developed some serious talent along the way. Very eclectic - hope to see them love some day. They did a couple shows with the Shit Creek Boys here in town, but it sold out faster than you can say "GodWeenSatan"

OK, not ALL music. Have never been able to tolerate Opera. Unsure about Throbbing Gristle. But other than that....lol

I used to say that I loved all music... then I realized that I hate musicals of any sort, new country, a Capello anything, music that I can't hear the words, music without words, some raps, and pretty much anything that relies on a piano or keyboard... or anything recorded in the 80's. There are more, but I don't want to come across as picky. puffy

I went through a phase where I was an irrepressible douche and stated “I like all music”, not saying anyone who likes all music is a douche canoe, but there is no way someone likes all music.

Ween is in my personal top 5 bands of all time. Great live band, hopefully I will get the chance to see them live again in the future. They are great musicians and write really solid songs and don't confine themselves to a single genre. Some people consider them a joke band or jam band, but they are neither and yet soooo much more. When you ready ween will find you and bring you into the warm embrace of the boognish.

Never got into them but they have been around a long time now. Even if I don’t care for a band I still listen to a few different songs from them time to time in case something grabs me.

Damn, I'm a bit shocked by all the replies! I actually disliked Ween most my life, grew up near them and saw them open for punk bands and such on a few occasions, mostly booed during their sets. Once, Dean or Gene approached my brother and I in line for a show and asked us what we thought of Ween and we replied "they suck!", only realized it was them when they were on stage. They likely enjoyed such reactions.

I'm more into their later material though: The Mollusk, White Pepper and 12 Golden Country Greats, that last album might be appreciated by those turned off by much of their catalog, or not.
