Friends, I had bowl of it yesterday and it is phenomenal. I'll A;B it with 1970's vintage original War Horse Bar today. I suspect that the original will pale in comparison, being a 35-45 years old burley plug, but here goes......

I've read the comparison review and it reads like total success. This is going to be knock you on your ass strong. I suspect that some who are salivating for it and consider themselves lovers of nic bombs are going to find themselves flat on their ass getting schooled. Having experienced a few of these ancient blends I can attest that the nic content is several orders of magnitude greater than anything coming out of a modern blend. But in addition to the nic head smash, the bar evidently offers a lot of flavor notes. So it's much more than a nic atom bomb.

Looks like the first quarter of '16, but there is a lot to get done before that happens. We want this to happen yesterday, but we want it done right. Simon has informed me that we just passed the two year mark from that fateful, Saki-drenched lunch off Wall St. where this all began.

Uh, one question, Dan:
How should nic wimps like me approach the Horse. I love what I see. I'd like to give it a go. But, I have been knocked on my can often and don't want to go there again.
Is there a way nic wimps can get in on the fun. Any tips for us? Like maybe one puff an hour, or something.
Just asking?

Looking really really good.
Very happy to see the Bar farmed out to STG for the proper pressing,

well done!
I expect this stuff will become legendary in short order,

replacing 5 Bros. as the ultimate Nic Hit on everybodies list,

and I imagine it'll be super smooth smoking too.
Wonderful to have an Irish-inspired plug on the US market and the 25g packaging is cool too.
Congrats on the reality of making reality real.

I have been here far more often than I'd like to admit. I approach nic heavy blends with preparation eerily similar to getting read for an even in which I might be imbibing more than an average amount of alcohol.
I try to make sure that I'm well fed, and well hydrated. I also plan to smoke these tobaccos in a space which allows for quick refills of the beverage of choice (for me non-alcoholic as I can't manage both the nic spins and the booze spins simultaneously), and for a long time. Blends that hit hard, for me, are perfect for a day of football watching... long movies or movie marathons, or a day in a chair with a book.
YMMV but this is what works for me.
Dan, congrats on getting the stables mucked out and the bar pressed. I can't wait for the Warhorse to ride again.

Thank you, friends!
Pat has it right. I'd also add that War Horse (and similar high nicotine blends) can be enjoyed in a small bowl, sipped lightly. It will take a bit of heat to get it lit, but once going should only require a light re-application of match or lighter.
As you see from my FB post, I opted to use a new, largish cob. I chose these pipes solely because they were the only new, clean cobs of identical interior structure that I had. I didn't get too far into them before getting slapped upside the head by Lady Nicotine! I deserved it.
Well, as they say...Press On!

Okay, I'm convinced. I'm in. I have a new Mark Twain Cob that will be waiting when the big Horse rides in.
Can hardly wait to give it a try.
And thanks to all at The Standard Tobacco Co. for going the long mile for us pipe puffers. Great job.
I've already ordered the John Cotton's. Looking forward to that TAD arrival and will saddle up the Horse as soon as I can.
