Yes, and specifically Turkish. But today's Camel Original non filters are adulterated with clove. An abomination! I must soon return to only pipe and good cigars. :-/ BTW, that looks like a Doberman in your pic
Clove sounds pretty bad. I haven't smoked a non filtered Camel since maybe early 90's and don't remember clove. You might try your hand at home blending to replicate what you remember.

I would like to home blend, but I would not know where to begin. Any suggestions? Please? RJ Reynolds says their blend was proprietary. One would think they wound have taken some of the 1960s 1970s blends and vaulted them somewhere, for the sake of the future.

I used to mix a Va/Turkish pipe blend using Daughters and Ryan Windsail and a Turkish blend from Peter Stokkebye. Turkish Export or something like that. Haven't seen the last one in years but haven't really looked.

Have your tried Peterson Early Morning Pipe? It is an Oriental forward blend with Va and a bit of Latakia. Nice smoke. Peterson_C69.JPG

Hi neighbor. Welcome from California.

Many folks seem to liken Cornell & Diehl's Haunted Bookshop to being cigarette-ish.. so I'd recommend you pick up an ounce or few of bulk HB with your next tobacco purchase. Whilst not much help to your quest in seeking that vintage Camel taste, it is delightful stuff.

Hello from Green Valley Arizona. I think most of the vintage cutter top cigarettes I’ve seen were Virginia’s. I’d try some various Turkish RYO mixtures, American Spirit cigarettes or just get used to the Camel’s 🐪 on the market today. Seriously there’s no going back.

Ahhh those old unfiltered Camels! Let it go my friend. At 73 years old I have many tobacco memories but why live in the past. Fortunately there is a LOT of delicious tobacco out there. Expand your smoking horizon. There has never been as many options to choose from as now.

Hi, Paul! Yes, it's beautiful here now with abundant sunshine. But you would not have wanted to be here this past summer. It was brutal. Phoenix had a standing record of 18 consecutive daytime highs at or above 110F (43.3c) set way back in 1977. This year, that record was broken with 30 days in a row. Some of those days as high as 119f (48.3c) I am about 1000 feet higher here, but it made little difference. :-/

I'm in SE PA, near King of Prussia area.

Funny, I've lived in PA my entire life and you can use ANY name followed by ", PA" and it would be believable. There are so many towns I've never heard of. Those of you not from PA, there's a stretch of towns all within a 15-20 mile radius of each other that will make just about every guy chuckle at:

Blue Ball, PA
Intercourse, PA
Paradise, PA
Bird in Hand, PA
Fertility, PA
