Wally Frank No Falt Weather Proof Pipe

Here’s a pipe with a solution that a simple wind cap solved, but adds to the mix with complexity.

The metal bore that connects the two half’s is rather large and when I initially pulled it as part had a coiled pipe cleaner in it. Obviously the pipe cleaner is used and heavily tarred, the pipe was still loaded with ancient tobacco that was fossilized.

The stem is rubber and the whole thing assembles into a unique contraption that vertically opens. The pipe is then loaded horizontally and to light it I turned the faux p-lip around, lit the pipe and rotated the bowl.

There are four holes in the “lid” for airflow.

I tried it with the coiled Falcon pipe cleaner and the airflow was garbage, then i removed the pipe cleaner and it smokes like a dream. An absolute dream.

I can actually see this becoming a favorite. I know, right.

I'll be damned. That's actually very cool. It took a few tours through the photos to figure out what the hell is going on with it, but then it became (somewhat) clear. Report further on how it smokes, over time. I have an old Kaywoodie Drinkless, very common and definitely outdated, but it turns out the stinger is no obstacle and I enjoy smoking it, so this might work the same way.

That is one funky cool looking pipe. I too have a Kaywoodie drinkless. This has inspired me to find it and enjoy the gurgle.

Wow, that's really awesome! The pics are beautiful. If I ever found something funky I'd probably be turned off ONLY because I'd be too intimidated not knowing what the heck I'd found. But, that is a sweet piece and I'm glad to hear it smokes really well.

I buy quirky pipes specifically because they’re quirky. I had zero idea how this pipe worked, disassembled or anything.

Here’s what I do know. Briar is tough. Tough enough my gorilla hands can’t break it. So I take a chance. The pipe cost me $50. I’ve been know to have a bar tab that dwarfs that. (It’s 2021, I meant little people’s that)

Thanks for posting this Ash. I was trying to figure out how it assembled and disassembled. Pfft $50.00 is a steal for that plus it delivers a quality smoke! A sure keeper.

It's a conversation piece at the least. I don't think I've ever seen this pipe or anything quite like it on Forums or in any other pipe sites or literature. I think that might put it in the collector's item category. It depends on how many were made. It was turned out on a factory line, with the patent number, but I doubt there are that many out there.

Fascinating design. Surprised it's apparently never been seen here before.

Took a little while to imagine the lighting process you described.

Not sure what to think about the "solid rubber" stem.

That is a wild pipe. Never seen anything like it. And being a good smoker is a great benefit to owning a very unusual, cool pipe!

I thought that I had seen every quirky pipe ever made - but that is a first and perhaps the only one that looks useful. Great find and detail pix helped.

It certainly is quirky...I love it. $50 seems like a bargain for such a piece.
