Despite no evidence to support the idea other than a couple of dots. I have a bit of a thing for old Wally Franks and that particular myth is one of my peeves, especially when repeated by sellers to bolster their price. It's one of those cases where speculation, repeated often enough, begins to be taken as fact.
Those Weskits are neat little pipes, by the way. Made sometime post-1960. Not sure if they were Weber products per Alex's hunch, but maybe.
On the subject of dots here's a pipe of the month, all of which I believe had a green dot on top. Anthony?
Not all. Only those with the "Sweet Root" designation. Sweet Root briar was, according to Wally Frank literature, "flavorful and mellow because it has been aged for years". Wally Frank had a great marketing team back in the day. So, take that info with a grain of salt.
I don't think I've seen that particular PotM shape with a beveled rim. Is that your work or done at the factory?
