I used to keep this in my celler and Walgreen had this in a 14 oz. bulk bag.

It is a nice Cavendish but a little wet but after drying out for a spell it smoked well and I always had a bag . I prefer English blends as a rule BUT This was nice change of pace and I (GASP) prefer this too Prince Albert , Not knocking the Prince as I keep some on hand also. I prefer it to all others of Walgreen's bulk

It has a small molasses top note but very suble. Burned great without a bite.

BUT alas we have a new Walgreens in my locale and they act like they have never heard of it! ,Is Walgreen following in the same footsteps as CVS? I certainly hope NOT!

I will check other Walgreens locations in my search. Has anyone else tried to find this at Walgreens!

I think it's these guys:
http://www.pipesandcigars.com/brands/1719/super-value-pipe-tobacco/?type=Pipe+Tobacco
http://www.pipesandcigars.com/brands/2062/admirals-choice/
In theory, this is a Sutliff/Altadis blend.
Here's their brand on TR:
http://www.tobaccoreviews.com/brand/379/blenders-gold
My guess is that this is "Golden Burley":

Drugstores in general are retreating from selling tobacco products, but various bulk tobaccos and blends are still available in smoke shops and online. As mentioned in a recent post, Cavendish, especially unflavored, is a good mixing tobacco to liven up milder blends. It goes well with a Va/bur mix (and others) and increases the volume of the smoke a little. Of course if you go to a better tobacco, in a tin or in a better bulk brand, you will likely improve your experience, although some of the bag tobacco is better than you'd think.

The last Dr. Grabow pipes disappeared from my Walgreens about two years ago, and there are no pipe tobaccos or cigars.

The Wallgreens by me still sells M.M. cobs as well as Captain Black and other various pipe tobaccos, but they are behind the counter and on the very bottom shelf, almost out of site, you have to actually look for it and/or ask about it. The last time I was there, the sales clerk actually let me behind the counter to look around.

Found IT.

In a Walgreen in a neighboring County!

It is not longer sold in a bulk bag but in a 3.5 oz. tin and has increased in price.

It is made by Sutliff and marketed as "Blender's Gold" I picked a coupla tins.

It appears pipesandcigars.com has this tobacco under the brand Admiral's Choice, including the Natural Cavendish blend and three others. See page 70 in their current paper catalog or look it up online. In the copy, they mention "one of the nation's largest drugstore chains." It's $9.99 for 8 ounces, not too bad.

The Walgreen's here in the Ozarks has it and other forms of tobacco in spades. I'd swear that Missouri has the highest per captia rate of tobacco usage in various formats of any state.

Political Correctness vs Money! Looks like it is on a store by store manager level decision currently.

My Walgreens has expanded tobacco into a whole aisle, with all of these tins of "dipping" tobaccos and chewing tobaccos. Cobs, OTC tobaccos and RYO.
That's heartening. Here all of them have cut it out except the ones near the giant malls which seem to sell a lot more beer, wine and smokes generally.

Walgreens has a whole aisle! Well, I never. Must be regional. I still can't understand why smoke shops (cigarette forward) don't develop more of a pipe clientele. My nearest chain has a few pouch tobaccos, a few bag tobaccos, and several cans -- Carter Hall, Prince Albert, and Half and Half -- but not a smokeable pipe on site. The local Tinder Box still hasn't caught the pipe wave; must not be big here in the Southeast yet. They carry an array of pipes and tins and bulk, but less than twenty years ago. I think the revenue stream is still mostly the cigar humidor.
