I can sympathize. Why do I always get to Walgreens when there is only one person already at the window, but apparently they are trying to negotiate a Haitian divorce via their health insurance card. By the time they finally get their prescription, and perhaps get the Haitian divorce, there are about ten people behind me in line. I got my flu shot back in September, but I still have to take my wife over there. She has various other medical stops we make, but for some reason none of them can give a flu shot. I'm trying decaf coffee to ease my irritable outbursts, but it isn't doing much good, and doesn't taste great, about like "lite" beer.
But did they atleast sell Dr. Grabow pipes there????
Two things that the employees at Walgreens have to deal with every day are: 1) the fact that management never puts enough people in the pharmacy -- they are constantly over worked, and 2) the damn "insurance" companies knowing better than anybody else (doctors, pharmacists, patients) what needs to happen in every circumstance. I frankly don't know how those nice ladies are able to still put a smile on their faces.
My particular Walgreens has Dr. Grabow pipes and Capt. Black original available for sale, however not visible. They are at floor level behind the candy counter that is in line with check out. So to see them, you have to belly up to the candy display and peer over the top and look down at the floor level below the arrayed cigarette brands, and there they are, about three standard Dr. Grabow pipes, no Royaltons, for about $37 apiece if I recall. Walgreens started in Deerfield, Illinois, on the north shore of Lake Michigan not far from where I was born, so I grew up with it before it became a national chain. My paternal grandma who lived near there pronounced it "Walgrins."
My Walgreen's is set up for appointments. I make one, go at the appointed time , get the shot, pickup some "Malted Milk Balls" and am outa there in fifteen minutes.
Scary, we must be related. My wife knows better than to take me along for such a thing.
About three times a year I get hit with one of these things while I'm mowing the yard. I suspect my wife has hired someone to give me my vaccinations.
Great story! To be fair, it sounds like you know when to shut up about two minutes after you should have shut up.

Tobacco on the other hand, is very cheap gross tobacco there.
Hahaha... Drove my wife past the breaking point, she doesn't ask me to go anywhere with her anymore, and that's just fine with me.

Brad, sounds like your visit to Walgreens was not much different than a “finger job”. Lesson learned.
I live in the communist state of Illinois the hate tobacco of any kind they have the pipe tobacco but no pipes
I'm up in northern part of the communist state of Illinois and our local Walgreens sells Dr. Grabows and MM cobs, behind the counter bottom shelf.
