Yes. I looked up some of Vigen’s pipes and he does on occasion use metal in a similar fashion in the mortise area on a few of his, but there is nothing definitive.
I don’t suppose I will get anything more unless one of these guys pops up and says “Yes, I remember that pipe”.
I know personally that this is difficult because every once in a while one of my pipes from the 1970s turns up at our club, except my thought is “Did I make that turd?”?????
