I've recently been experimenting with Virginias. Everything I have tried so far has been flake cut. What are some good Virginias that come as loose cut?

MacBaren HH Mature virginia, McCranies Red Ribbon, MacBaren VA #1. There are more out there but I'm just getting into VAs hopefully others will have some good suggestions.

I like Wessex Brigade Sovereign curly cut, it is not a flake but it is not totally a ribbon either. It is the closest thing to the original Three Nuns that I have found, age definitely helps this one. Also Esoterica Dunbar is a nice vaper with the perique in the background.
Are you buy chance having any trouble smoking your flakes? If so try the cube cut method, it works great for me.

I second cigrmaster. If the reason you are seeking out loose cut is because of poor experiences with flake tobacco, then give the cubes a try! I've seen the light...

Rarely, does someone ask for a Virginia "in a loose-cut". Not to toot my own horn, but that is exactly what I wanted to accomplish with my C&D Blend named Captain Bob's Pot O' Gold Mixture. Currently, it is only available from C&D by direct order. However, there are a couple of reviews and a description at this location:

A couple of good loose Va cuts are sleepers from Newminister: Straight Virginia, #1 All Natural and the milder Denmark Pipe Cut.

(I personally like their Norway Pipe Cut better, but that has Orientals and Burley in it too, so it doesn't address your request, exactly.)
Also, I enjoyed Daughters & Ryan's Rimboché S.J., which has Perique -- but you will probably not notice the Perique too much, if at all. Same goes for J F Germain's Royal Jersey w/ Perique, where, like Rimboché S.J., the Perique is just there to make the Va even more exquisite.
I think Esoterica's Scarborough is a wonderful straight Va. also.

McClelland's # 27 and # 25 should be given serious consideration too.

McCranie's Red Ribbon. Absolutely wonderful stuff. I have no idea how many tins are in my cellar, aging - probably 12-15 - and I am not primarily a Virginia smoker.
I'm not fond of MacB Viriginia #1, but do like their H&H Mature Virginia.
I will second the suggestions of HotW,OG,and McClelland's Virginias.
And buy some Red Ribbon. :D
