Hi all!
I normally smoke mostly Latakia blends / Oriental Blends but have recently been getting into Virginias?
Could anyone suggest a good Virginia blend that doesn't bite (as I VERY easily am affected by tongue-bite). I am currently LOVING Orlik Golden Sliced.
Many thanks!!

Escudo is a popular for a reason.
I'm fond of Lane 125th Anniversary. For the price, it is an excellent smoke. Also, Stuliff Virginia Slices makes a good budget Virginia Flake. Orlik you've already discovered. They make an excellent aromatic called Racing Green that is worth mentioning too.
On the more premium side, Viprati is good if you like the stronger blends. Peter Stokkebye Luxury Bulls Eye Flake is really good too. It's milder than Viprati and I like the Cavendish in it.

It occurs to me I left my favorite Virginia blend off the list. Ennerdale is wonderful if you have the palate for it. It is an aromatic of the Lakeland variety. This means it is scented in an almost floral way. Its supposed to have an almond topping but I taste bergamont very strongly too. If you like Earl Grey or Jasmien tea, its worth a shot. Get a cob though as it will definitely ghost a pipe.

Some of the suggestions are not straight Virginias, which I assume the OP is looking for. Here's my list. I have reviewed all these blend at Tobacco reviews if ou want to check them out.
Dunhill Flake for sure
Capstan Blue or Yellow (the Yellow is sweeter and just a little less stronger)
Wessex Bridgade Campaign Flake
Sutliff 507-C Slices (they need some age, but they're relatively cheap)
Astley's No. 44 and No. 109
Full Virginia Flake if you want something that has some strength
McBaren Pure Virginia is you want a strong, very sweet red Virginia
McBaren Modern Virginia, which has 20% burley, though you don't notice it much. Has a light apricot and pineapple topping.
Rotary Navy Flake

Every one of the above suggestions is a good one. For a very interesting twist on a VA, I can't recommend Peterson's Irish Oak enough- a very unique blend, IMO.

You're off to a fantastic start with the Golden Sliced, one of my favorites. I have to add another vote for Dunhill Flake, which is straightforward, sublime, maybe the perfect presentation of Virginias. Peterson's Perfect Plug deserves a plug in this space also. :puffy:

One of my favorite VAs is Wessex Brown Virginia Flake!! Most excellent!! It's in the top ten that I cellar in advance of the Pipepocalypse!
