05,
Try C&D's G.L. Pease blend of TWO FRIENDS - HERITAGE. It is a Virginia Medley. It tastes like a Flake, but in a traditional-cut. It was the late Craig Tarler's go-to tobacco since 1999. Craig passed away last year. Before Craig died, we created a similar C&D blend in the Captain Bob's Series of three blends. It is called "Captain Bob's Pot O' Gold and is available from C&D by direct order. My version contains additional Burley for depth and a very slight Maple flavor.

Orlik Golden Sliced or Dunhill Flake are both excellent, easily obtained no-hassle Virginias.

Everyone here listed some tasty blends, I. Will say dunhill flake is a good option right now, pipesandcigars.com is having a 3 for 2 sale going on. Who couldn't use a 33% discount? :D also hearth and Holmes anniversary lake is awesome for a vaper and available in bulk, tin, and sample size from the same website.

+1 to Mac Baren Virginia No. 1.
I just tried this blend earlier this week and fell in love with it. From even the first few puffs, that delicious virginia taste hits your palate, and you get sent to pipe smoking nirvana.
Seriously though, hyperbole aside, it really is good stuff.

Smokindragon, you are a man after my own heart, lol. Love all those blends. If you add Wessex Campaign Brigade campaign dark flake to that list then you will be my hero.

We don't need another hero. We just need to know the waaaaaaaay home.
I'm not into straight Virginias, but I really enjoyed Mac Baren's #1 once I finally started to get some basics down.

Almost any VA from McClelland. The No. 27 would be a great place to start. Try to find a tin with some age on it, the older the better.

Try 221b Honeydew from McClelland, if you want something sweet. I like the bread taste of McClellands 5100 red cake, but I think you can only get that in bulk.

started on this great pipe smoking journey, great great blend
@Jah76- no worries, I will guide all home with a trail of Virginia

flake, so you can just pickup a flake and smoke on the way ;-)

I would suggest the following Virginia blends in order from top to bottom
McClelland Matured Virginia #27

Erinmore Flake

Samual Gawith Full Virginia Flake

Dunhill Flake
Try any or all of these fine Virginia and you can't go wrong.
