This thread is making me very happy with my decision to order a few tins of whatever I could get my hands on from SG and let it sit at home to age. I did bust open a tin of the Kendal Kreme though :)

Hard to go wrong with Escudo. Although much simpler you might Try MacBaren's Navy Flake. Many people find it to be too one dimensional, but it was my gateway into Virginias and I still like it. Yeah it is simple but it tastes like good Virginia Tobacco. It is s neutral pure Virginia that pleases me even when I know there are better tobaccos to be had. Royal Jersey is similarly a great gateway into English blends... it aint super complex, but it is tasty. Happy Smoking.

If you don't mind a little Perique with your VA I would recommend that you try L.J. Peretti's Park Square. This is my all time favorite VA/Per with a wonderful flavor and an excellent burn rate.
