As I know most of the members here have great appreciation for the more simple times of old, I thought some may find value in this amazing website I've frequented for awhile. It's called Shorpy and it is a massive archive of vintage HD photos (most taken between 1850-1950). I could spend all day looking at these photos, most of which are of a higher resolution than today's cameras, being they were recorded on glass negatives.
If you do a quick search for pipe, some amazing images come up including:
Lumber worker with pipe.
and my favorite thus far Winter crossing.
Make sure you click on the actual image for the HD version. You can actually see the gentleman on the boat with his pipe - I can't imagine what is going through his head. I like to bring up a photo and contemplate the scenario while enjoying an evening bowl.
Cheers
