So since it has been discontinued, I was wondering if there is a bulk that is similar to Villiger Mid-Day. I've heard Stanwell Melange as a posiibility, but would really like a bulk. It doesn't need to be a perfect match, but I would like something with similar strength and a room note that would at least be reminiscent of this discontinued tobacco.

I guess I will broaden what I am looking for because of the lack of response. I'm looking for an Aromatic that is similar in style, not sticky like Molto Dolce but with enough topping to have a very pleasant room note. I would also like the tobacco flavor to come through at least a little bit and a medium level of Nic would be a nice bonus.

I've got 8 tins left of Mid-Day, so I'll soon need a replacement too :( This stuff is truly magical.
Molto Dolce was way too wet/sticky for me, even after generous dry times, and it didn't have the right flavor anyway.

I have 2 tins, but yet to smoke it. Was it just that blend they discontinued, or the entire line?

As I recall it was the whole line. I didn't get nearly enough of this blend. Since it's my favorite, I've reversed gears on when I smoke it. It's a "special occasion" smoke now. I plan to savor the remaining tins I have of it.
As for a bulk, I've never found one that hits the palate like this one. As a matter of fact, no blend I've tried is quite the same. I've lost myself to thought with this blend more than any other.
I'm also curious to know of any other blend(s) similar to this one.

somebody should really revive the "recommend a blend" thread. I thought it was a great idea. It seemed to just lose steam pretty early on. It's a shame, I coulda seen that one becoming a sticky.
And now I can't even find the old thread. Where'd it go?

Still lamenting over the loss of Swiss Delight in bulk .I purchased the other blends mentioned but never got around to putting them to the test .

I know you are looking for bulk but Cup O Joe's still has plenty of Mid Day. Called to make sure before I ordered. Added 2 tins to my order spurred by this thread.

Personally, I think Danish Black by Newminster/Villager might fit the bill perfectly. Not sticky sweet. Has a decent bit of nic. And I've had many complement the aroma.

I received some of the Danish Black of Newminster in the grab-bag I got from P&C couple months ago. I never tried it but gave it to my son-in-law who is an aro smoker, and he really liked it. Might be worth a try

I should have mentioned that I have never tried Villiger Mid-Day, so I don't know if they are comparable in flavor/ taste. However, everything else I wrote about it is true.

I was also going to suggest looking into the Newminster and Peter Stokkebye bulk offerings. It seems to be stuck in my head that Newminster and Peter Stokkebye worked together on a line of tobaccos. Or it's Peter Stokkebye and someone else created Newminster. Can't keep it straight, but might be a good bet

I have a sample of that danish black, I'll need to try it sooner than later. I figured it was just another mild black cav but if it has some ooomf to it, that raises my interest. Of course I don't have enough baccy on my "to try" list already :puffy: I guess more will need to be added.
