To round up my SP order, I added this Viking Classic Smooth Bent Pot. Obviously, its nothing fancy but I like Danish pipes and found them to be good daily workhorses.
I took a look around the internet but was unable to unearth much about this brand of pipes. Since its a relatively common term in the pipe world, I wasnt able to find much info. I did find this on a UK site. Not sure if its the same company.

"Viking briar pipes were originally founded and distributed by Bjarne Nielsen until he sadly died of a severe heart attack at the age of 66 in 2008. The brands he created still live on today and are made in Denmark by several different pipemakers. "

It seems like it may be a seconds from Bjarne Nielsen. Maybe you guys own one or have more info about this pipe.

I don't think that logo was used when Vikings were Bjarne seconds. I think that logo was used after the rights to Viking were sold off to an unknown buyer who originated in Denmark but now produces pipes elsewhere. My strong suspicion is that they are now a Stanwell seconds line made in Italy. I have one too and I like it.

According to pipedia.org

"From the early 1990s Bjarne had seven pipemakers employed and the pipes were sold in no fewer than 32 countries. For more than six months each year, Bjarne traveled around the world to promote his pipes by meeting with dealers and customers. But sadly, it all ended in February 2008 when Bjarne suffered a fatal heart attack. An unexpected blow fist of all to his family, but also to the pipemakers who had been working for him, and to all lover of his pipes from around the world. And as no one was willing to take over, the Bjarne pipe died together with its creator".

My experience with SP estate pipes has been a positive one. I couldn't say for certain, but I wouldn't expect they would except any pipe for re sale that is truly cruddy. They can afford to be choosy. Every estate pipe I have received from them has been a good deal. Clean, with minor rim darkening and tiny chattering at worst.

I think Viking is still a standard serviceable brand. If you like its looks, it is probably a reasonable gamble. Mogen Johansen worked for Bjarne and now makes Johs pipes, which I like a lot. I've had a good experience with owning five or six of them. Someone on Forums had a problem with the finish on a Johs, but I have had no problems with any of his pipes bought over years. They are snappy Danish designs, traditional but not imitative. I'd at least take a look at SP.

It is a brand that PipesAndCigars commissions from a factory. They are available there. Reasonably priced.

Do you happen to have any idea what factory they're working with?
My guess has been the Barontini factory in Italy, where Stanwells are now made. But that's just a guess - if anybody has a guess in a different direction, I'm all ears.

I am not sure but maybe if you email them they’ll get back to you before next year
