I have read (somewhere, where? Who knows.. ) that aging tobacco requires oxygen. From that I take that vacuum packing will retard the aging process. Maybe not stop it, but slow it. I also heard that some aromatics don't age well as the toppings degrade or fade.

That leads to the question: Will vacuum packing an aromatic (maybe with an oxygen absorber) help preserve the out-of-the-bag flavor?

If the base tobacco is Virginia, it will age just fine. The flavorings, most of which are artificial, will probably not age well. Oxidation might be one of the culprits, so yeah, try the O2 absorbers.

I’ll warn you about Boveda packets, though. My experience is that they don’t play well with aromatics, and leave behind a distant steely taste.

That's a strong endorsement coming from James James Bond. 😎 I was thinking about buying a pound of RLP-6. I doubt that's going away anytime in the next 20 years though so I've reconsidered.
