I need some sort of lathe in order to file down tenons evenly and was thinking I could possibly set up my power drill or even my Dremel tool to achieve this. I figured I could insert a small dowel in the tenon and put the other end of the dowel in the tool, but before I start experimenting I thought I'd check and see if someone else has already come up with a good solution along these lines.

This item would serve you better. You can chuck it in your drill. http://www.pimopipecraft.com/tools.html

I'll have to put that tenon turning tool on my wish list for now, but thanks for the info. Pimo looks like a very valuable source of tools and supplies.

Great folks. Honest too! The problem with a Dremel is they run too fast. if you have a drill press you should be able to slow that enough to be useful.
