I'm a '68-'72 U.S. Navy vet, but I passed through Clark AFB enroute to Subic Bay enroute to the DMZ off Vietnam. The bus ride from Clark to Subic was through the mountains on twisting roads at high speed, dodging water buffalo and jitney, after a 18 hour trans Pacific flight. Vets may know that both Clark and Subic Bay bases were closed down and re-purposed by the PI government. All of the places I was stationed were totally changed since then. I could make a list, but enough of that for now.

Last tour, (after 20+ years), Sembach AB, Germany (officially a low-profile annex of Ramstein AB by then)...retired in Jan of 2008. Other bases: Lindsey Air Station, Kirtland, Andersen, Bitburg, RAF Mildenhall (up the street from RAF Lakenheath), Ramstein, Mountain Home and Sembach last. TDY/Deployed a bunch of places. Right now, Smoking H and H Anniversary Kake from June 2010, in a Big Ben filtered bent.

Spinning ball of dirt
My Uncle (Jay Miller, on the distant chance someone knew him) was a USAF retiree, served in Vietnam and all over, and was the most avid pipe smoker in my extended family (following in his dad's footsteps).
My uncle past away a year or so ago, and had a lot of lung trouble at the end that was attributed to agent orange exposure.

Left the Pentagon on terminal leave a week before the plane crashed into it on September 11th 2001, was a programmer/analyst at the time. Duty stations before that were at Geilenkirchen Germany (AWACS), Naples Italy, Offutt AFB, Keesler AFB, Ft Campbell Ky, and Kitzingen Germany, with others in between. Lots of travel when I was a TACP in Germany with little visits to Central America to round it out. Dad was also a retiree with service in Korea and Vietnam so it's a family thing. Had some Elizabethan today in a Dunhill Canadian, not bad at all, I must say. Thanks for everyone's service!
