Resume? It's just another name for DGT.
Edit:mad:Pappymac, an interesting generational shift is that switching jobs every two years used to be a red flag, now staying longer than that is.

I'm not sure about "flowery language." The smart employer you want to find knows b.s. when he/she hears it. It's more having enough imagination to put yourself in the employers head a little and explain what you can do for them. This means picking out the value of your experience, not just give your list of previous jobs and job titles. They want you to be able to take some supervision but also to ask questions and bring new thinking to the project. Any weight you can take off them is an enticement to hire you. In tone, keep it straight talk. Just talk about something that interests them. Flowery, not so much.

Good luck, like everyone else said Jazz the resume up a lot. Companies don't really care about personalities, all they care about is are you planning on staying there to advance their company and can you do their job. Another thing is constantly go in person to check on the resume, or call. I prefer the in person as they will get to know your face better.
I miss days of going to a place and talking with folks. Resumes are complete BS in all caps, companies rely on them way to much. I've seen them hire complete dirt bags only because they sounded like a god in their resume.

I wish I could say that explains some of the folks I worked with before I started The Big Purple Barn, but those places didn't care too much about resumes.
