I posted before on my grandfather having to have surgery and I said I would keep everyone posted. Thank you all again for all the prayers and nice comments. They really mean a lot. My Papa is going into surgery early this morning. They are taking out his bladder, prostate and lymph nodes. He has a very aggressive cancer and after discussing options with the doctor, thought it best to just have everything removed. Please keep him, my grandmother and my family in prayers. Thank you everyone for the thoughts and support. I will keep y'all posted.

Spend time with him now, even if it's just reading beside him while he sleeps. You'll never regret it.

+1 on mso489's comment. I will keep him in my prayers. Staying with him is time well spent.

He left earlier as the hospital he is going to is several hours away, but I have spent a lot of time with lately and have tried to do everything I can for him. I'm staying at his house because he asked me to watch my aunt, er I mean his dog for him since Granny is staying with him up there. He specifically asked me to take care of his baby for him while he was gone, so I won't be there with him at the hospital, but I am glad to say that I have spent a lot of time with him. I spend a good deal of my time at his house, so I usually see him most every day. I am very blessed to be able to see all four of my grandparents often and have many fond memories with them. I know that is far more than many folks have.

One of my greatest regrets in life is not spending more time with Granddad in his last few months of life. I could not bear to see him in such a frail state. You have my thoughts and prayers...
As a side note, my granddad chewed Copenhagen every waking minute, and many a sleeping moment. I honor him every year on his birthday by cracking a tin of the dip and have one in memory of him.
