It's sumo time! The Aki Basho is starting this Sunday. Is anyone here interested in the sport? Or tempted to get into it?
And for those who are into it, who's your favorite rikishi? Mine would be Tochinoshin, who's dipping into mancrush territory for me.
For good reason!

Oh my god sumo is my favorite sport. So excited for terunofujis first basho as yok. To bad about miyagino beya missing the basho cause of covid shit (again). That heya needs to get it together as far as that goes.

i am personally rooting for ichinojo to reclaim a sanyaku spot and to see kiribayama and hoshoryu continue to succeed. Ive got a soft spot for the mongolian horse lords.

Sadly, Hakuho, Enho, Ishiura and Hokuseiho will be skipping because of the virus.
And yeah, I've a soft spot for the mongols as well, though I am biased due to some blood ties.

Personally not into watching sports but I can say with certainty I really respect the amount of dedication and madness that goes into becoming good enough to be pro in most sports. And from my understanding Sumo takes that to a wholly insane level. I've often thought about how even the bottom performing athletes in any pro sport have taken things beyond a typical human level, with a few exceptions (even I can see there are occasionally talentless undisciplined players who kind of just inserted themselves into the sport of choice and don't really belong there.)
