Same here - big matches, usually. I can light a pipe with a match, in almost any circumstances. I'll admit there was a time when wind used to sometimes stop me, but it gets easier and easier.

Same here - big matches, usually. I can light a pipe with a match, in almost any circumstances. I'll admit there was a time when wind used to sometimes stop me, but it gets easier and easier.
Swan matches for me - still annoyed by the new box! I was tempted by one of the Peterson lighters but find that a fluid lighter, for me, gives an “off “ taste. I don’t know about gas and would sooner spend the money on more tobacco, I suppose, or another pipe.

Better than Old Boys I've had. The bigger you set the flame, the more durable it is, in my experience.

I also use a weird setup of an electric arc lighter zippo insert and beeswax hemp wick. Mainly because I wanted something with a super soft flame that was really controllable that I could refill for really cheap. Electricity and wick is about as cheap as it gets.

When I'm short on cash then I write myself a check (at which point I go overboard... even by $1,000), and walk away with that.

Usually matches or a zippo, but I'll use whatever can get my tobacco lit.
My main lighters nowadays are the Tsubota Pearl Stanley and Im Corona Old Boy. Sometimes matches and Maruman GL-67.

The plain finish black ones do this eventually. They are also the cheapest
