I just acquired this pipe in a trade. The shape is most unusual . . . I've never before seen a Peterson like this one. And, the shape number, 15, stamped at the end of the underside of the shank, traditionally belongs to a billiard, not a full-bent. It is graded Supreme. Can you tell me anything about it? Thanks.

There be many strange pipes on line auction in the realm of Peterson.

Sometimes a grabow pipe with a peterson marked stem.
Sometimes a peterson with a non peterson stem.

The wood grain on your pipe looks nice. The question is does it smoke well?

The shape number stamping (or mis-stamping) is interesting for sure, but it appears to be a gold mounted Supreme, like this one:

Does it have the non-system stummel, but a screw in condenser on the tenon?

Helluva pipe, regardless!
I’m not certified Pete geek, but I’m sure one will be along shortly.

Here’s the Peterson Pipe Notes on the Supremes I grabbed the photo above from until someone smart shows up:

Yes, it is a Supreme. No condenser. A bit more bent than yours.

Yes, it does smoke particularly well. And, despite the full bend is surprisingly dry.

And yes, it has a 9 ct. gold band. On yours what is the number before the .375? That'd be the carat no.

I have no Supreme, that’s from a Peterson catalog (that looks to me to be the same shape as yours, within the variances of Pete’s.

I’d suggest posting yours to the “show off your Petersons” thread, if you’d like info from the knowledgeable Pete collectors here.
