And welcome back! Where do you live?

Wow, it has been a long time ago since I was last here on this forum. My apologies for my absence 🙇‍♂️

I am not sure if I am in the correct thread for this, if not, please correct me.

Reason why I am here now is because a friend of mine recently bought a Dunill Bruyere from 1950. Pretty special in itself, but this one is unsmoked, in the original box with all the box-candy and it includes an original Dunhill pipe reamer. See the attached pictures. And that friend wants to sell the Dunhill for a good but reasonable price. So I offered to ask around.

He acquired it from someone in The Netherlands who's grandpa bought the Dunhill, but died before he could smoke it.. All these years it had been in the family.

Now, I know quite some things from Dunhill and prices they can fetch, but this case is pretty unique. I know their are many Dunhill experts here on this forum so I hope you can help me. Myself I am thinking in the price range of $600-$800, maybe even $1000. Do you agree with this, or perhaps a lower or higher amount would be more suitable?

If you are interested in the Dunhill, please let me know, I connect you through to my friend.

Pretty cool. :)

The only thing that might reduce value a bit is the pipe's size. Group 1 and 2 pipes aren't as popular as larger ones.

The odd---and rare---shape could go either way in terms of collectable desirability.

That said, the over-the-top completeness of the bits and pieces is unusual, and the made-yesterday condition of everything is absolutely stellar.

Like real estate's three most important things being 1- location, 2 - location, and 3 - location, the oldie pipe collector care most about condition, condition, and condition.

Thanks! 🙏🏻 I didn't consider group size, smaller ones are indeed less desirable 🤔 But yes, condition is excellent.

There are non-pipe collectors who will pay a premium price for such a pipe? What kind of collector might they be? I'm genuinely curious.
Over the years of watching eBay auctions I've identified a number of different types of collectors, among them collectos that I've dubbed "period collectors". They buy items that they feel recreate a complete period environment. When one of these collectors goes after a pipe, it's often one with all of the extras, that's part of the point, and they will leave the average pipe collector dead in the dust. They don't care about price.
