Just got this Ropp in today and the there is something stuck in the bit and completely clogged. I've tried everything I can think of to get it out. Any suggestions or just send it back to Smoking pipes?

I have a Ropp just like that one, as well as 6 other Ropps. One of the smaller bulldogs I have passes a pipe cleaner, but the entire horn stem is drilled off center. Not the greatest workmanship at times. But for the price I still enjoy them.

As for yours, I'd like to see more pictures if possible. I'd hate to send a pipe back because well, im lazy. Haha.

A coat hanger may work. Cut a piece and gently try to tap it through. I wouldn't go too far with it if it new, you don't want to damage it if you have to send it back. It's unfortunate and I'm sorry you have to go through this with a new pipe. I'm talking a old fashion metal coat hanger, not the fancy new plastic ones😊

Gently with an old metal coat hanger is one of the best ways. I would contact the seller and let them know. They may offer suggestions but at least you have logged the issue before monkeying around.

I tried using a small allen wrench, but whatever it is that is plugged in there, is plugged good. It looks like a piece of pipe cleaner, but I can't imagine that would be this difficult to dislodge. I did contact smoking pipes and their customer service is good and will replace.

It may not be drilled all the way. If they drilled it from both ends, they may have just made a mistake and not drilled it far enough to meet. Sounds odd but making 1000's of pipes, things can slip by. Sounds like your best bet is to send it back. If you can't push it out with a allen wrench, it's blocked pretty good. If you have the correct size drill bit you could drill it out by hand, it's a straight stem, pretty simple. Should be a quick fix but if you mess it up you probably won't be able to send it back.

I think you're right. Thanks

My Peterson system standard had the well drilled, but they didnt clean up any of the shavings hanging off of it. So that could just be wood chunks floating around still.

After reading the first comment, my suggestion would have been to hand turn a bit through the stem.
I would have used a larger drill bit. I have cleared airways in the past by clamping the bit into the jaws of a small pair of vise grips. Then, typically, turn the object to be cleared.

I got an estate Kiko Hillbilly years ago and was thrilled to find it in the batch of estate cobs (ya, you read that right) I had won on the auction site. It was clogged and it took me awhile to clear it. I used alcohol and thin coated florist wire.
