Luckily we got out on a hamburger date on Sunday afternoon, which at this point in history is living large for us. Sunday night and Monday before dawn, we got a howling wind and thunder and lightning, and the power jumped on and off about six times, going dark and then lighting up the room (dimly) with various devices being re-energized. The cell phone sprang to life with flash flood warnings. Heard a powerful thud that was a big limb hitting the driveway. On Monday, we got soaking cold rain and then big wet snowflakes that didn't stick. And we were the lucky ones. Best to all with the heavy weather. Family in Chicago area are digging out.

Saturday and Sunday were golfing weather here in Eastern NC. Yesterday it was 65 when we got up, 32 when we went to bed. Monday was very windy with accompanying rain and snow flurries, a yucky day all around. I grew up in northern Michigan and don't miss that winter weather at all.
I’m 42 and already have a 8 year plan to move to South Carolina. I’m done with it myself.

It finally got cold in KC after Christmas. Very late for us. It didn't snow here until Jan 1st which is very late for us. And the amount of snow and ice we got was about an inch. Hasn't warmed up enough to melt it yet.

Speaking of ungodly weather how about that stretch of I-95 in Northern Virginia? (see: https://www.washingtonpost.com/transportation/2022/01/04/i-95-shutdown-virginia/ ) We used to live in that area, every few years or so the state DOT's would get completely overwhelmed by a weather event like this one. Some winters pass with little or no snowfall, so the local drivers and DOT have to relearn when these sorts of events occur. Couple the weather with routine traffic density that exceeds the capacity of the roads, everyone is in a hurry. and little/no experience in driving those conditions and you have a recipe for disaster. I'd rather go back to Michigan than return to Northern Virginia.
