I have a Baraccini Mare Blu 404, that I got in December. However, it's acquired some nicks. I can pass off the bowl rim as a result of lighter flame perhaps, BUT I just today noticed marks revealing natural briar on the bowl and on the shank. How could this happen? 🤷🏾‍♂️⛵🌊 I only put it in my coat pocket 🧥 and it's not fulla nails. Not even my lighter. It's empty.

Also, what can I do to touch this up?

Looks like the maker applied some kind of lacquer or shellac. Notorious for peeling and chipping. I'd give the stummel a wipe down with a towel and acetone.

Would that risk taking anything off of it? I want to be careful when I do it. It has a subtle blue on the rim, BUT on the underside it is more brilliant and smooth. The smooth ones are like that all over. I might get another, unrusticated one.
