Hello,
I am looking for guidance or clarification on what has happened with my pipe, I hope this is an appropriate place to post this.
I purchased a couple of Anton & Co pipes and have blistered the lacquer on both of them. I am a new pipe smoker, and I'm quite sure I let them get too hot while smoking, perhaps not breaking them in enough before I tried to get a good smoke out of them. That being said, I would be hard pressed to really recommend these pipes.
Anyway, one pipe has minimal staining and just a clear lacquer finish. On this pipe, where the lacquer has blistered, there are dark spots that seem to seep out of the wood as the bowl gets hot. That is to say, there seems to be something dark in colour that liquifies as the bowl gets hot and comes to the surface of the wood.
Does anyone know what these spots could be and if it is anything to worry about?
The wood is maple.
Thank you for your time.
